Lida Nobakht

CEO & Founder, Chair

 

Ms. Nobakht, who is credited with inventing the two-tone demodulator (closed-loop servo system), which revolutionized the disc drive industry, attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated from The University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering specializing in control systems. She attended Santa Clara University and Stanford University for graduate studies in computer science, engineering management and marketing.

 

Ms. Nobakht has over twenty years experience designing and developing hardware and software for some of the largest high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. She started her professional career developing a unique servo system for Shugart Associates. Later, at Quantum Corporation Ms. Nobakht was one of the initial engineers developing SCSI interfaces.

Because of Ms. Nobakht’s expertise in SCSI interfaces, Seagate recruited her to implement SCSI firmware on their high-end storage systems. Before leaving Seagate, she headed the Worldwide Applications and Sales Engineering departments. Control Data then asked Ms. Nobakht to join their management team where she was responsible for worldwide technical marketing and applications engineering. When the storage division was sold, Ms. Nobakht left with senior management to turn-around storage technology leader, Rodime, where she was VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing. Ms. Nobakht was also a founder and VP of Sales at Eclipse International, a leader in Windows CE technology.

Dr. Francis J. Harvey

Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of Advisory Board

 

Dr. Francis J. Harvey served as the 19th Secretary of the Army from November 2004 to March 2007. Appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the Senate, he had statutory responsibility for all matters relating to manpower, training, reserve affairs, installations, environmental issues, equipment, sustainability, communications and financial management.


As the Secretary, Dr. Harvey was responsible for the Department of the Army's annual budget and supplemental, which in Fiscal Year 2007 was over $200 billion. He led a work force of over one million active duty, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve Soldiers, 240,000 Department of the Army civilian employees and approximately 200,000 contracted service personnel. He had stewardship of over 15 million acres of land and about one billion square feet of facilities.

During his tenure, Dr. Harvey's number one priority was the well being of Soldiers and their families. He traveled extensively to visit Soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and at over 150 Army installations, camps and forward operating bases in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Just prior to becoming the Secretary, Dr. Harvey served on several corporate boards including three portfolio companies of the Carlyle Group where he was the vice chairman of the board for two of these companies. Between 1997 and 2004, he served on total of ten different corporate and non-corporate boards. At the present time, he is on seven corporate boards.

The majority of his business career was spent with the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, which he joined in 1969 as a senior engineer and retired from in 1997 as the Chief Operating Officer of the Industries and Technology Group.  During the course of his Westinghouse career, he held several senior leadership position including General Manager of the Electrical Systems Division, General Manager of the Marine Division, Vice President of Science and Technology, President of the Government and Environmental Services Company and President of the Defense and Electronics Systems Group

Dr. Harvey earned his doctorate in Metallurgy and Material Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania and his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science from the University of Notre Dame

Dr. Harvey obtained his B.S. degree from Notre Dame and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Metallurgy and Material Sciences.

Bruce R. Fitzpatrick

Vice President Finance, CFO, Director

 

Mr. Fitzpatrick attended the University of Texas and graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California and is a member of the California Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts. Mr. Fitzpatrick has three years of public accounting experience with KPMG Peat Marwick in San Jose California. At KPMG, he specialized in the high technology and financial services industries. Mr. Fitzpatrick spent seventeen years at Benham Capital Management Group (now American Century Fund Group) where he became Chief Financial Officer. At Benham he oversaw US$15 billion in assets.
